About Thiele Technologies:

A Whole New Level of Packaging Machinery Technology

Since their founding's in Minnesota in the early 1930's and late 1940's, Bemis Packaging Machinery and Thiele Engineering have come to symbolize excellence in the design and application of packaging machinery technology.

Headquartered in Minneapolis and a subsidiary of Barry-Wehmiller Companies, Inc., the leading packaging automation group in the Western Hemisphere, that reputation for excellence continues today under the Thiele Technologies name with innovative, high-speed packaging systems that accurately feed, fill, close, seal, bag, place, carton, case pack, and palletize a wide range of products.

A History of Quality

We strive to set the standards for quality in every aspect of the packaging industry. At every stage of the project - from internal paperwork, to design, to customer service through final production - we strive for excellence. It's a spirit of professionalism you'll notice in our people as well as in the workmanship of our finished products.

Thiele Technologies traces its history back to 1931 when the first Deltaseal bag sealing machine was completed and sold by a special branch of the Bemis Company that would later become Bemis Packaging Machinery Company (BPMC). In the late 40's that branch was established as a separate business unit of the Bemis Company and was moved into the building at its current location in northeast Minneapolis.

At about that same time (1949) Thiele Engineering Company was established by Ed Thiele. A short time later, from a facility in Hopkins, MN the company manufactured its first reciprocating placer for promotional coupons.

During the decades that followed, both companies grew and flourished, expanding their product lines through acquisitions and development. Thiele Engineering eventually moved to Minneapolis and in 1995 the firm was acquired by Barry-Wehmiller Company. Later in 1995, Thiele Engineering acquired Frontier Equipment of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, combining the two companies into a single entity but retaining both locations and manufacturing operations.

In the mid 80's, BPMC acquired Master Conveyor Corporation and merged that company's palletizer machinery business into its operations. BPMC remained a Bemis Company subsidiary until its acquisition by Barry-Wehmiller in May of 1997.

In February of 1998, Thiele and BPMC were merged into a single business unit by Barry-Wehmiller and renamed as Thiele Technologies, Inc.

Thiele continues to grow via a number of acquisitions. In 2005 we acquired Edmeyer Dairy Systems (St. Paul, MN) to expand our offerings in the dairy and beverage industries. 2006 was another year of growth in which we added Slidell (Owatonna, MN) parts and service to our offerings.  We are now proud to offer select Slidell equipment as well.

In November of 2006 we acquired Streamfeeder (Fridley, MN) to expand our feeder offerings to a wide variety of industries. Early in 2007 we acquired SWF Companies (Reedley, CA) broadening our case packing, cartoning, case, tray & bliss erecting offerings. In March 2008, we acquired Nigrelli Systems (Kiel, WI) to expand our line of high-speed continuous motion packaging and tray handling systems and extend our offering in the Beverage market.

In August 2009 Thiele Technologies expanded its product offerings again with the purchase of the Hudson-Sharp Machinery Company. With locations in Green Bay, WI and Brussels, Belgium, Hudson-Sharp is a world leader in the design and manufacture of plastic bag machinery, pouch making equipment and reclosable packaging solutions. In October 2009 we added to our new Bag Converting business by acquiring New York-based Ro-An Industries. With this new line of products, we are excited to be able to present our bagging customers with an even broader range of products.

In March 2014 Thiele proudly announced the addition of Netherlands-based SYMACH palletizers to our family.  SYMACH is an industry-leader in end-of-line palletizing and load-securing technology serving customers in a variety of industries worldwide.

Today, Thiele Technologies is one of the largest packaging automation companies in the business.
